"Scientologists, Catholics, and More Money than God.""Some are surprised that religion is so corruptible. They should not be. When secrecy is used to protect a higher order of knowledge, it can make the keepers of the secrets think of themselves as a higher order of humans. Corruptio optimi pessima, goes the old saying. Blight at the top is the deepest blight. It is the sin of taking Gods name in vain."More money than God--that's a lot of money rolling around. I'm surprised that in this budget crisis, no one has proposed rethinking our nation's laws about tax exemption--to say, for example, that the only organizations that can get such exemptions must be involved in direct charitable work. Has anyone seen rumblings to this effect?
