Having recently returned from four weeks in Europe, yesterday's historic election was an occasion of renewed pride in the possibilities and good sense of the American people.The gracious concession speech of Senator McCain and the magnanimous remarks of President-elect Obama serve as beacons and signs of hope for the difficult days ahead.
