Since I am a part-time student at a Jesuit institution, I would be remiss if I did not mark todays feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus.

A comprehensive list of links to Jesuit information and activities around the world would quickly exhaust the bandwidth of this site. The web site of the University of San Francisco has a biography of St. Ignatius. The Irish Jesuits sponsor a web site known as Sacred Space that attracts visitors from around the world seeking a few moments of contemplation in the space of their busy days. As an example of Jesuit outreach, check out the group Hopeworks in Camden, NJ which seeks to enhance the lives of inner-city youth by providing them education and job training. There are even a few Jesuit bloggers!

Ignatius composed a number of prayers during his lifetime.  One of my favorites is the following:

Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will.
