The synod in Rome understandably has the attention of the dotCom community. But I have gotten some questions about reading Marilynne Robinson's Gilead trilogy, so I wanted to offer a quick update and general "schedule." (I use "schedule" loosely, hence the quotation marks.) More after the jump.

Starting on Thursday, October 30th, I'll be posting each Tuesday and Thursday until Thursday December 4th or so. No doubt life -- and Thanksgiving -- will get in the way, but I'll try to keep to that as a general schedule. On the 30th, I'll blog about the first 86 pages of Gilead, then blog again on Tuesday, November 4th, and then again on Thursday November 6th, at which point I will have read the whole novel. Home will come next, and we'll discuss it for a couple of weeks, and then we'll move onto Lila.

I welcome any and all participation. If you can read the books along with us, great, please do chime in in the comments. If you can't read along but find some part of the discussion interesting or beautiful or true, please chime in as well. The schedule might well be a bit ambitious, so I'm happy to slow things down. (Indeed, I might have to for myself.) But I'm very much looking forward to sharing my thoughts about these books. Thanks for the opportunity to do so with you.

If we set up a distinct page for the discussion, I'll be sure to post on the main blog to alert people to updates.
