Home > Bruce Springsteen's Catholic Imagination

Given all the talk about sacred music here lately, I thought I would draw attention to the podcast [1] over at America on Bruce Springsteens new cd, Magic. Tim Reidy interviews Bill McGarvey of Busted Halo fame on Springsteens new record.

If you havent listened to Springsteens newest, it is his best work in years and Springsteens Catholic roots are evident in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. There are both political songs and more popular pieces. If you liked the early Springsteen, you are almost certain to like this album. If you dont know Springsteens work and want to discover why so many people do, Magic is a good place to start.

For you Springsteen fans out there, Im wondering if others heard some inflections of Warren Zevon in this material.
