Naked

I have this to say

about the unclothing of the clothed:

becoming naked is a turnabout

of what is ordered and decreed:

we are told to hide the flesh,

to hitch it to a stitch

or hem: lacking belt, buttons,

trousers and cap the luminous

layer of skin would increase

in splendido and coruscation

and be itself a vestment

and a peak of voluptuousness

and the elephantine seeds

of desire would grow up round

like vines of flame and

the coiled daysprings about

the heart would spin from the

rib cage and be imperial and unappeased

aroused beyond the shipwreck’s flat clarion bells.
