Commenting Guidelines

Commonweal reserves the right to edit, delete, move, or mark as spam any comments that appear on our website.

Commonweal reserves the right to block anyone from logging into the site. We no longer allow creation of accounts with user pseudonyms; we will delete such accounts immediately. If you feel you have good reason to use a pseudonym when commenting, please contact Commonweal; if the request is merited, we will set the account up for you. You may not use the name of a real person, other than yourself, whether that person is living or dead; an account created under such a name will be deleted and you will be blocked from logging into the site.

Your comment will likely be edited or deleted if it includes ad hominem attacks; is off-topic; contains inappropriate or offensive language, advertising, copyrighted material, or suspicious information. Comments with more than four links may be marked as spam and deleted. Users who violate this policy may be blocked from accessing and commenting on our website.

Comments may be published in the print edition of Commonweal.

All comments on this site are the sole responsibility of the comment writer, not Commonweal magazine, its editors, or its contributors. By submitting a comment, you agree to these guidelines, and you agree that its content is your own, and to hold Commonweal and all subsidiaries and representatives harmless from any and all repercussions, damages, or liability.
