Its not often that you hear someone compare cutting-edge militaristic video games to Ovid, but Wired Magazine columnist Clive Thompson does exactly that in this fascinating conversation aired on NPRs program On the Media (heres the transcript). Thanks to the glories of podcasting, I just listened to the latest show while preparing lunch, and I was struck by Thompsons comments about the moral implications of both video game aesthetics and the design of real weapons systems, such as the Predator drone. And who knew that there was a video game that is the cyber-eras equivalent of a memento mori?
