Breakthrough?

Is it possible that the Gazans who walked into Egypt through the breaks in the wall constructed by Israel have created facts on the ground? Hard to say. And who can see the consequences? But there is something bracing about their willingness to walk through the wall for "fresh air" as one woman said. They are imprisoned in their own land by both Hamas and Israel; it would be a breakthrough if they could lift the yoke of both from their shoulders. Here's the NYTimes account: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/24/world/middleeast/24gaza.html?_r=1&oref...

Congratulations to Professor OBrien-Steinfels (brave!) assertiveness in using the I-Word without taking off her cap.Its amazing to sense the depth of quiet in once-free American publications. One wishes that her Irish ancestor, Jonathan Swift, would come back and perhaps persuade Jay Lano to do a take on the bishops addition of Zionism to the Apostles Creed. We sense the Fear of the Jews not only in the Gospel of St. John in Greek, but in almost all Catholic publications in American English. And please note this irreverent note is the only comment. The rest is silence.
