Isn’t there something you can do, Grant, about revoking Eduardo’s contributor status? Any reason, real or imagined, will suffice. :)
And who will control Grant? That fan of the team that took longer than the Red Sox to win a pennant.
Oh, William, you must know by now that when it comes to the Yankees, I encourage schadenfreude. But even I can forgive Bill his confusion about the difference between winning a pennant (the championship of a league) and winning the World Series. (Before 2005, the White Sox won the AL pennant in 1959.) I realize that Yankee fans don’t actually have to know much about the game, as they’ve come to expect the uninterrupted success brought about by moneyball.
Grant, your correction is true and tells the right story. If you don’t have many World Series, your facts better be correct.
I for one will never forget how thrilled I was when the White Sox behind Ted Kluczuski won the first game of the 1959 series 11-0, and how bitter was my despondency when the damned Dodgers came back to win in six games.
I still recall exactly where I was when we heard on the radio (this was in California) that the White Sox had clinched the pennant, eleven years too late for my grandfather to enjoy it.
William — I’m a Mariners fan. That’s punishment enough.
