UPDATE: In the comments, Joseph makes a good point. A little googling turns up this site dedicated to unearthing each of the Beatles’ Irish heritage.

The Beatles not Irish?
Being Irish back in the early 1960s was not a marketable skill like it is now. The only professional Irishman I remember from those days was Joe Feeney on Lawrence Welk standing on his tippy toes to hit the high notes of “Tooraloora.”
Then Lord Flatley of the Dance came along, and suddenly being Irish was arty and sexy, and now we’ve got the Irish tenors, those fiddle-playing ladies in strapless evening gowns and–saints presairve us–Danny O’Donnell.
