Harvard names first woman president.
Cool. But Princeton (my alma mater) got there first.

Even cooler to be able to correct a Tiger.
In point of fact, the University of Pennsylvania, my beloved alma mater, got there before both Harvard and Princeton.
Judith Rodin was named president of Penn in 1994 and served until 2004, when she was succeeded by Amy Gutman.
Penn grads will also know that Drew Gilpin Faust, Harvard’s newest leader, studied and taught at Penn for 20 years, where she was beloved by legions of Quakers.
Go Red and Blue.
Ah, but both schools are lagging behind my Duke Blue Devils. Nannerl Keohane became Duke’s president in July 1993.
Okay, Okay–I let my Tigerdom outweigh my commitment to the facts. So… who’s first?
According to this list, http://www.thewhitehouseproject.org/v2/researchandreports/womensfirsts.htmlFrances Elizabeth Willard was the first woman college president (Evanston College).
But what about Catholic women’s colleges– didn’t they have women presidents before 1871?
