Waiting…

“Waiting for the wind.” (From The works of Living World @ STARNET ZONE (Mashiko, 2006))

A friend of mine is on retreat for triduum, and sends a terse note that she is “Waiting…” We wait in many ways: like at the dentist’s office, or there’s waiting like at the DMV, waiting like a kid at Xmas, waiting like a cat at a mouse hole, or waiting like how? None of my images here is apt–to what does one liken the waiting of Holy Saturday? Waiting like for the sound of a lover’s keys at the front door? Or….

  1. Waiting…

…like a pregnant woman on her due date?

…like a dog behind the door eagerly expecting his master to come home any time?

…like a sick or injured person who can’t sleep because of pain or physical discomfort, and is waiting for the sun to come up and for the long night hours to end?

  2. Waiting…

to hear the Good News, “He Is Risen.”

  3. Waiting…

    with Him in the tomb
for the Spirit to breathe a new life in Him
    — and in me
till His new dawn and mine and yours
    releases us all
    from old schemas
    into a new paradigm

  4. Claire B: Yes, waiting for the Spirit to breathe something fresh into my jaded outlook, to blow away some of the cobwebs, to part the curtain enough to see whether there’s light behind it, to hear again the litany of saints, our friends in heaven, who, I always imagine, speak our own names as we speak theirs.

Lisa, what a great photo for this post.

  5. Waiting, watching
    with bated breath
for the sun to rise again
in the dawn of a new day
for the dew in the cool morning
    for release from longing
    for…..MARANATHA

    Happy Easter to all!
