  3. What lovely piece! Whose performance?

    Bruckner is a man whose reputation for a while suffered, not because of anything he did, but because, forty years after his death, the Nazis decided he was, along with Wagner, an ideal German composer. He never, however, had anything to do with Wagner’s pathological anti-Semitism, nor (I think) with those strange ideas of German-ness.

  4. The Bristol Cathedral Choir–not sure when. I have a bootleg I’d use for practice when I used to sing it every year.
