The big event. Call it like it is. So antithetical to Jesus of Nazareth who was humiliated and crucified. Every marketer is trying to get a piece of this action by donating obscene amounts of cars, ipods and other sundries. It is a spectacle, a Cesarean romp, a emperor’s field day, a king’s splendor, a true circus. While the children come last.
Let’s be real. You cannot call it holy. http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB114591920439834611-OtBN7F_qbGxt2YstGeEXX1WoMzQ_20060524.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top
Barry’s honesty is refreshing.
Excellent writing. He is my kind of Katlick! May his seed multiply and continue to carry on this republican (small “r”) form of Catholicism.
On the Occasion of the Great Arrival, I finished Sense and Sensibility! Quite wonderful.
Shades of Kurt Waldheim: it was unfortunate that President Bush was at the bottom of the stairs to greet Benedict–apparently the first time he’s ever gone to greet a foreign head of state… Election year shennigans, but to my mind very unfortunate.
