For the record, the Gospel of Thomas covers Pell Grants in great detail.

  1. Wonderful! I am introducing the concept of counter arguments and Devil’s Advocate to students in my rhetoric class in a couple of weeks. I will use this as an opener.

  2. Colbert’s parody of Ryan is better than many more didactic other commenttaries — especially the Ayn Rand clip! How Ryan can can call his espousal of her an “urban legend” demonstrates the cognitive dissonance that he and his party are capable of achieving. What a tour de force of denial!

  3. Saw this first at America where Fr. Martin posted it.
I hope it gets the widest distribution to underscore the hypocrisy of the subsidiarity gang on the right.

  4. Cannot thank you enough for this one. This is just the very type of shared humor that is so wonderfully inspirational. Abbott and Costello sharing their views on divine mysteries.

  5. How about the Gospel getting several rounds of applause from the presumably young, hip and perhaps not altogether sober crowd at Colbert’s taping? That Jesus fellow may actually have a future.

  6. Btw, I note from the 5/2/2012 10:07 pm comment posted here that there is actually a website called Commonweal Cuckoos, devoted at least in part to commenting on the goings-on around here. I just spent way too much time reading through it, hoping to figure out who runs it. I do believe I’ve got it narrowed down to a pseudonym, but beyond that, s/he is shrouded in mystery, at least for me.

  7. Lookeed at Commoneal Cuckoos – the best part is the”about” section which tells you diddly.
