What about Florida and Michigan?

What will the Democrats do about Florida and Michigan?  I don’t think they can totally ignore them without alienating voters there. But I also don’t think that they can ratify the results when there wasn’t a real campaign in either state. I believe they should hold another primary in each state, the cost to be borne by the party in those states since they were the ones who made the decision to defy the national party’s rules and they are the ones now complaining. Probably not going to happen that way, however.

  1. How about this: the primary schedule is getting lighter, so let’s have the candidates start campaigning in FL and MI like they were running for President. They can promote their policies, which have lots of overlap, so in a way they would be campaigning for the Democratic ticket, regardless of who wins the nomination, and they can run against McCain. By campaigning in FL and MI, they let the voters know that they think their vote matters, that they are not being ignored. Make sure the campaigning includes lots of listening stops and town hall meetings. Use it as an opportunity to start campaigning early for the general election.

  2. Under the Augustinian sounding, Cui bono, posted below, you can learn virtually everything you want to know about this vexing question:

  3. Mea maxima culpa, Peggy. Your Latin title threw me.

  4. Actually that post and Latin title, if such it be, was the work of one of the younger illiterates! so called!

  5. Glad to agree with Joe Pettit on this one.
