At a newsstand near you. Again.

Over the past several years, and for a variety of reasons–some of them rather bizarre–Commonweal disappeared from newsstands. From time to time we’d hear from someone who wanted to know where he might purchase a copy of the magazine, and we’d have to say, sorry, not possible. Well, we don’t have to say that anymore. Interested in checking out the latest issue in physical form? Click here for the list of locations that carry Commonweal.

You can’t get it anywhere in Seattle? What’s the deal Greg Wolfe??
If you want to, you might try Bulldog News on the (University) Ave, Eliot Bay bookstore, or whatever that news stand is right a Pike’s Place. They might be interested in carrying it.
Grant –
The n+1 magazine site has an online “store” where you can buy its products including issues of the magazine. It’s at

Maybe Commonweal could do something like that.
Well, God bless Borders. Somebody in their system obviously made a decision for which we can all be grateful. But what about the odd few that are not Borders? Are they affiliates or something? Just individual stores that picked Commonweal off a list somehow?
My assumption was that there is some kind of broker that supplies magazines to news dealers as a package, and if they decide you are on their distribution list you are in, and if not you are out. Is this correct?
Not every Borders is here, of course, so I am imagining that Commonweal is only carried by the bigger stores or the ones that sell more specialty items or fit some specific profile. It would be interesting to know what niche Commonweal occupies from the marketers’ point of view.
Do the same stores carry America? (Couldn’t resist asking!)
I think Borders here carries First Things. Also a newspaper/magazine store in the are carries First Things, but not Commonweal. I would imagine the smaller store gets its stuff from a local distributor, but I don’t really know.
It seems we ought to be able to buy it in the Notre Dame Bookstore!
The map looks a lot more thickly populated than it did yesterday, so I assume the reports are rolling in.
This is glorious! Like I needed another reason to love Trident Cafe.
Um, I may live in Seattle, but that doesn’t give me mystical powers over local bookstore and newsstand managers! They’re the ones who stock journals and magazines. IMAGE itself isn’t stocked at all local outlets, drat them. But hey, I’ll put in a good word whenever I stop by the local establishments.
